Couple Hack ‘n Slashers for the PS3 incoming that I’ve added to my “I’m interested” list.
Ragnarok Odyssey ACE
Looks to take a Phantasy Star Online approach. This LOOKS like a lobby-based, encounter-driven hack and slasher with multiplayer functions. I thought the name was a coincidence, but in fact, no. This game is based on Ragnarok Online, and has its applicable classes, but appears to favor button mashing over skill-based isometric manipulation. Looks fun! This is being published by XSEED, ALL GLORY AND HONOR AND PRAISE BE TO THEM.
This is launching at $40, which leads me to believe there’s bound to be plenty of microtransaction-motivated gameplay inside, so I’ll probably wait to rent or wait for a heavy discount before buying… but it sure looks nice. Better than Ragnarok Online 2, at any rate… (*THIS IS A SOUR POINT OF CONTENTION)
The Witch and the Hundred Knight
Weird fuckin’ name, but this is a gorgeous over-the-head hack ‘n slasher that appears to be in the veins of the latter entries into the Ys series, which is a very good thing. This is being published by NIS, who deserve your money.
So, considering this is the first time I’ve looked at PS3 releases and been like “GIVE ME THAT” since Tales of Xillia was announced for release around my birthday last August, this is considered sweet beans…. Too bad they’ll be wrestling for my money alongside the not-even-a-question purchases on the horizon; Son of Batman, Dragon Ball Z Season 3 and Evangelion 3.33 are either pre-ordered, or are as good as pre-ordered and come out in the same time frame. This is a good year to be a nerd.
